We take a different approach to lessons. Our goal is for people to incorporate horsemanship into their lifestyles and see the difference. Our lessons last as long as it takes, we don’t cut you off, which is usually around an hour and a half. It’s more important for us to bring you quality learning time and content than pack ‘em in. Below you can learn more about our views on teaching, and further down you can check out the different types of lessons we offer to be able to bring the horsemanship lifestyle to people with different levels of commitment.

We believe in the creativity of horsemanship, that it’s not just a skill but also an art. Long considered a fine art, there’s a freedom of expression from your thought becoming the horse’s action, making it something you can’t find anywhere else.

Horsemanship for us isn’t just a hobby or a sport, it’s a lifestyle. And that shows in our teaching. Our riders aren’t treated as one hour riding students, they learn every aspect of horses to truly be skilled in handling horses. Riding is just the start
THE WORKING SIDE
All of us at the Ranch work with horses for a living, and we invite our riders to get a taste of it by bringing them into our world. Learning how to rope and riding on open space trails are all in reach for our riders as they discover horsemanship for themselves.
THE MEDITATION
Horses bring us balance in our lives by connecting us to nature in the most intimate way- from the back of nature. Disconnect from the manmade world and get in touch with what’s real. Working with horses is an escape from the demands of human life and gets us back to a place of balance.
Levels and Pricing
Single Lesson- $80
The one at a time, pay as you go option. An hour and a half.
Single Lesson- $95 (Premium)
Pay as you go, one lesson at a time with an emphasis on learning to handle a rope and/or trail training. About two hours.
Weekly Lessons- $280
4 Lessons ($70 ea.)
Committing to at least four lessons to be used within the month saves money, and helps you learn faster. The faster you learn the faster you get to experience new things like handling a rope and riding on trails. About an hour and a half.
Weekly Lessons+- $300 (Educational Emphasis)
4 Lessons ($75 ea.)
Lessons designed for the homeschool student looking for P.E. credits but useful to anyone. We take our standard lessons of ground up horsemanship but also include “classroom” knowledge like genetics, confirmation, bloodlines, terminology, etc. With take home literature and diagrams, we focus on the “book” knowledge that compliments the real world working lessons we always provide. About an hour and a half.
The Explorer- $340
4 Lessons ($85 ea.)
Learn Real Horsemanship with an emphasis on trail training and exploring the local area on horseback. This is a lesson + trail, starting in the arena, then apply what you learn to miles of open space. Let our years of guiding and packing in places like the Eastern Sierra Mountains, Hawai’i, and Colorado give you a safe, exciting experience in nature. This style of lesson requires a rider who is independent and advanced enough to control a horse in open spaces. We recommend starting with our weekly lessons package with the goal to gain skills to be safe on trail. About two hours.
Rope and Ride- $340
4 Lessons ($85 ea.)
Learn Real Horsemanship with an emphasis on learning how to rope. Pick up a new skill by learning how to rope while getting to know all aspects of horsemanship. We used to work out of a full-time team roping facility and we’ve been roping for over 15 years to give you a safe, authentic cowboy experience.
*We currently do not have access to live cattle, so this is learning to handle a rope and learning to ride in preparation for you to rope live cattle. Let us help you in the process to be prepared to rope. About two hours.
Unlimited- Contact Us
This is how you make horsemanship part of your lifestyle. Come and go as you please, much like a gym membership. The unlimited level gives you all access to horses for the entire month. At first you’ll be under supervision through lessons- as many as you want. But as you learn and progress you’ll have access to increasing levels of independence. For the person considering buying a horse, this offers you all the benefits of owning one like being able to ride anytime you want, but at a fraction of the cost and responsibility and unlimited lessons.
Mini Lessons- $40 (30 minutes)
Learn aspects of horsemanship in smaller chunks! Don’t have the time or let’s be honest, the money, for regular lessons, this is for you! Making it affordable to get access to the benefits of learning horsemanship. These lessons consist of a variety of things. Want to learn how to give a horse a bath? Learn about tack, how to tack up, ground work skills, shorter time in the saddle, how to improve your breathing and awareness around horses, how to safely turn a horse out? Mini lessons are all horse handling and care skills, and everything in between! These lessons are also good for younger kids who get value from anytime spent around horses.
